A pair of Hold-M-Up®’s plus a cardboard target, a cardboard backer with equally-sized paper targets or a plain piece of cardboard with some hand-drawn targets are all you need – get ’em, grab your weapon, some ammo and you’re ready to go shooting! Could it be any easier?

(1) Twin Spike feet account for an average 5.5″ of overall length.
* Targets with a height greater than the 1.5 times the slot length can bend under forceful winds.
For example: Placing a 26″ tall target into a High (with a 16″ target slot) will leave 10″ of target above the slot – it is 2″ beyond the recommend height for windy conditions.

Absolutely no tools required – no hammer, no mallet, no wrench, no pliers, no ratchet, no sockets – heck, you don’t even need a screwdriver!

No Clips, Pins, Staples or Tape Required
You do not need anything to insert your cardboard target into your Hold-M-Up® Portable Outdoor Target Stands – just follow the Six Step process.
If you are using paper targets you will need a piece of cardboard the same size as your paper target.
Slip your paper target against and in front of the cardboard then slide both between the two cold-rolled steel rods of each Hold-M-Up® upright.
Press down on the cardboard and target until they bottom out against the stop (upper weld point). You’re ready to shoot!
Frankly – it takes longer to read how to do it than it does to actually do it. Think of it – no more duct tape, scotch-tape, stapler or staples. Hey, you’re welcome!
LIGHTWEIGHT Yet STURDY
Hold-M-Up™ Portable Outdoor Target Stands are made of quarter-inch, cold-rolled steel – by design they are light yet sturdy. For example – the 48″ Hold-M-Up® High Portable Outdoor Target Stands weighs approximately 3 pounds complete.
Compare 3 pounds to other so-called ‘portable’ steel systems weighing over twenty (20) pounds! And that’s not counting the 1″x2″ wood strips those other systems require!
Hold-M-Up®’s are quarter-inch, cold-rolled steel – not polycarbonate, not plastic, not wood – steel.
Hold-M-Up™’s are not bulletproof – but they do hold up much better than non-steel (wood/poly/plastic) target stands.
Robotically Welded
We utilize a robotic welder which gives consistent welds, weld after weld after weld.
The quality remains constant and the robotic welder doesn’t ask for much in return.

Powder-coated Finish
Powder coating produces a lustrous and durable (but not bullet-proof) finish.

Different Hold-M-Up® Portable Outdoor Target Stands for different SHOTS!
One size fits all is great for baseball caps, but not for target stands!
There are three general categories of weapons (based upon weapon/body interface) in target practice – rifles, shotguns and pistols. We designed our Hold-M-Up® product line to fit the particular needs of each category’s shooter.
- Our High is best all around – but works best with pistol and rifle shooters.
- Our Medium is for those instances when your backstop is low to the ground. It also works well for prone or seated shooting.
- Finally, our Low is the best choice for wide targets as the bottom of the target/cardboard will almost touch the ground. It’s also the best choice for patterning a shotgun.
ALL Hold-M-Up® models can be used with ALL types of guns.
The Story behind Hold-M-Up® Portable Outdoor Target Stands
Or ‘Forget The Hammer!
Hornet Manufacturing Inc.’s president Matt Shalosky is an avid hunter who likes to hone his skill with lots and lots of target practice.
One particular day, at a secret, hidden location he walked off 200 yards to place his target stand – a couple of wood posts, some cardboard, paper targets, and such… you know the drill. As he stepped off the final yards he looked at the ground and thought it might be tough driving two stakes into the nearly rock-hard ground.
Finally reaching the 200 yard mark, he placed everything on the ground, grabbed a stake and reached for his hammer. He looked – and looked, but could not find the hammer. You guessed it…
Yes – he’d forgotten the hammer.
He walked 200 yards back to find and get the hammer out of his truck… then walked 200 yards back out to the posts… drove the two wood posts into the hard ground… strapped/taped his target up so much (due to light winds) it looked like a 16″x24″ piece of aluminum with a couple of white paper napkins stuck to it… then he walked 200 yards back to his firing line… and at this point he started thinking there HAD to be a better way!
When he finished shooting, he walked out 200 yards, pulled, pushed, shoved and nearly broke the two wood stakes out of the ground. He then grabbed and carried the entire silver, wood and paper mess another 200 yards back to his ride. Whew!
By the end of the day Matt KNEW there must be a better way – and he was going to find it.
Matt is fond of saying, “Let me noodle on it”; so he ‘noodled on it’ and it wasn’t long before a solution started to form. A few conversations later (with avid hunter/shooter family members) and the solution, the revolution was complete – Hold-M-Up® Portable Outdoor Target Stands prototypes were created.
A good amount of R&D target practice with the prototypes led to the final Twin Spike Hold-M-Up® design.
By the reports we’re getting back from customers, his forgotten hammer is having a major impact on their target practice!
